Because this is a really slick surface, I did give this piece a light sanding with a 220 grit to create some ‘tooth’ for the paint to adhere to. In fact, it may be a bit better than what I'm doing here, but I haven't found a need to do it exactly as they suggest. If you choose to tumble dry your dark clothing, it is best practice to do this on low heat with clothes turned inside out. Use muddier tones on your boots, shins, lower knees, and absolutely go to town on your soft parts - slap on the acrylic and rub it in/rub it back hard.So if you're still missing the old GW Devlan Mud or Badab Black and you wish you still had some, do yourself a favor an pick up these inks.

These types of enamel-based washes are applied on the area to be highlighted, and their formulation allows working and modifying the area of influence and the subtlety of the effect with the help of a clean brush or a brush dipped in Thinner. It’s easier to control rather than watering down the paint and creating a wash because you want the paint to be more opaque in some areas and reveal a little of the original finish in others.

My personal method of application is to use a sponge or sponge brush and coat it at the top of the piece so the liquid runs down. I am hoping for a lighter affect on a birch table, this would just require added more water to the chalk paint right? Heavier fabrics such as towels and jeans should be laundered separately from lightweight fabrics such as cotton or silk.
